In 1992, Porsche imported the 964 Carrera Cup cars to participate in a national racing series, which ultimately did not materialize and was canceled. Since the cars were already in the United States, Porsche opted to sell them through their dealer network. This provided U.S. buyers with a rare opportunity to purchase what is essentially the European 964 RS, a model that was never officially offered in the U.S. market. These 45 cars were fully street-legal, complete with U.S. VINs and titles.
